Our in-person Education Station program at the Museum of Art is still on hold but we are here to bring you an online version instead! The Education Station typically offers an activity themed around a topic from a current or recent exhibition at the Las Cruces Museums. Today we are making miniature suitcase dioramas inspired by the art of Sandra Ramos. Follow along with these graphics for the material list and instructions. For more information, contact Bryan Lee, Education Curator, at BLee@las-cruces.org

This month's Animal Feedings: Amphibians features the Nature Center's resident New Mexico Spadefoot eating mealworms. The New Mexico Spadefoot is the State Amphibian of New Mexico. These cute little toads are easily identifiable by their large eyeballs and shovel-like spurs, known as "spades", on their back feet. They use those spades to dig burrows into the ground where they live up to nine months of the year, coming up when it rains to breed and feed. #LCMuseums #LCMONAS #AnimalFeeding

This is a powerful presentation from local Indigenous and LGBTQAI+ artist Chantelle Yazzie-Martin about her exhibit "Iniquitous: Trapped in the Room." Yazzie-Martin uses digital photography and incorporates embroidery to document some of the pain that happens when you come out of the closet but are still unable to show yourself fully to society.
