: Wilma Irene Billie Newell was born on January 4, 1925, in Macomb, Illinois. Her father was a minister, and she grew up learning the long-beloved hymns of Christianity. She became an accomplished musician and received a Bachelor of Arts in Sacred Music. In 1945, Billie married her college sweetheart, Cliff Barrows. While on her honeymoon, she first met Billy Graham at a rally he was holding in Asheville, North Carolina. Cliff and Billie joine...d Billy’s Crusade team shortly after that meeting (where Cliff led the music when the worship leader failed to show). Billie traveled with the Crusades for five years, singing and playing the piano and organ. In 1949, during the watershed Los Angeles Billy Graham Crusade, Billie worked long and hard hours like everyone on the team. In his autobiography , Billy Graham says of her, Billie Barrows at the piano worked as hard as any of us. In 1950, Billie recognized how important it was that she remain at home with her growing family, and she took a break from traveling to raise her five children. #FriendsOfBilly : http://bit.ly/2FMCy8k

Should Christians celebrate Halloween? It’s not uncommon for people to struggle with whether to celebrate Halloween. Some see it as a dark day full of evil influence, while others deem it a harmless time for fun, costumes, and candy. This answer from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association may offer some guidance on #Halloween and even give you creative ideas for using the holiday to share Christ: https://bit.ly/3janekx

#OnThisDay In 1948, Billy Graham began a series of evangelistic meetings in Modesto, California, along with his ministry team, comprised of Cliff Barrows, George Beverly (Bev) Shea, and Grady Wilson. Through a series of conversations about ministry life and its challenges, the group met together in Modesto and resolved to uphold the highest standard of Biblical morality and integrity. Many pastors, ministries, parachurch organizations, and individuals have been inspired ove...r the decades to adopt these philosophies. In the following excerpt from his autobiography, "Just As I Am," Billy Graham went into further detail about the resolutions these men made in terms of financial integrity, sexual morality, publicity, and partnership with the local church. Their resolutions became known as the "Modesto Manifesto. on our combined list was money...In Modesto we determined to do all we could to avoid financial abuses and to downplay the offering and depend as much as possible on money raised by the local committee in advance. on the list was the danger of sexual immorality...From that day on, I did not travel, meet, or eat alone with a woman other than my wife. We determined that the Apostle Paul’s mandate to the young pastor Timothy would be ours as well: Flee youthful lusts (2 Timothy 1:22, KJV). was the tendency of many evangelists to carry on their work apart from the local church, even to criticize local pastors and churches openly and scathingly...We determined to cooperate with all who would cooperate with us in the public proclamation of the Gospel, and to avoid an antichurch or anti-clergy attitude. was publicity. The tendency among some evangelists was to exaggerate their successes or to claim higher attendance numbers than they really had...In Modesto we committed ourselves to integrity in our publicity and our reporting.

Today, we're featuring two comic books, "Billy Graham with Cliff Barrows Presents: The Story of Naaman the Leper" and "The Story of David and Goliath, as told by Cliff Barrows" both published by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA). Cliff Barrows, narrator of these comic books, is a long-time associate of Mr. Graham and host for The Hour of Decision radio program. Additionally, Mr. Barrows served as music and program director for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association for more than 60 years. In the early days of BGEA, Cliff would give dramatic presentations of Bible stories at special youth meetings which were part of a Billy Graham evangelistic campaign. His presentations were the basis of these comic books. BGEA printed and distributed these at the youth meetings from 1951 to 1953.
