THURSDAY DEC 3 at 6pm online: Register https://bit.ly/3fdtnek to hear Asata Radcliffe discuss her research for the powerful exhibit "A Convenient Soldier: The B...lack Guards of Maine." She affirms, The heart of the story is the stories behind the men." During World War II, African American army soldiers were sent to North Yarmouth, Old Town and into Piscataquis County, to guard Maine railways from terrorist attack. While some towns welcomed them, others told them to go home. John Coghill, Penobscot Times editor, pushed for removal of the troops and sought the aid of Senator Ralph Brewster, a Ku Klux Klan supporter. FMI https://www.facebook.com/events/2656250038020205
