It is with great sadness we report the passing of Hugh Doran. Hugh, who was Chief Observer at an ROC Post near Glasgow, was a great supporter of Chop Gate and along with his wife Cathy visited our open days many times. It was always a pleasure to have them at our events (where he would stay all day), on hand to answer questions about his time in the ROC. The 8hr round trip just to support our events is a testament to his dedication and commitment to ensuring the ROC lives on. Thank you Hugh for being a great friend and supporter of all that we did. RIP.

Some newly aquired items thanks to a generous donation from one of our followers - thanks Adam! A reproduction civil defence manual and also a PDRM 82M. The PDRM 82M wasnt used by the ROC ( the 82 and 82F were, and are orange) and we dont know too much about it. Perhaps one of our followers does, let us know!

A new item for our collection. Slightly out of area, but still an interesting read. It was produced in 1984 for the people of South Yorks.

Having just returned from a good weekend helping our friends at Portadown Post in Northern Ireland for the European Heritage Open Day,I thought I'd share some of the filming done by the BBC on the day. There was also a news report done by UTV - good publicity for the ROC.

Thanks to everyone who came to our open day today and to everyone who helped out to set up the bunket and serve refrshments. We've had so many nice comments regarding the event, it was great weather and we had over 100 visitors in 4 hours! Our open day is only two days away. Make sure you've got your sun-cream on as it's gonna be a hot one! Don't worry though as we will have refreshments on hand to cool you down. See you soon!

If you've seen one of our posters out and about you may end up on this page. For our open day on Sunday 28th May, please park in the village hall car park and follow the signs up to the bunker. We unfortunately cannot provide access for pushchairs or wheelchairs. We will be open from 12am and last tour is at 3.30pm. Entry is free but donations are appreciated towards the upkeep.
