Dr. Moses Greeley Parker graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1864 and enlisted as an Army doctor during the Civil War. He maintained his reputation as a skilled physician and innovated many new medical procedures after the war while continuing his medical practice in the Lowell area. Through his friendship with Alexander Graham Bell, he made investments in the American and New England Telephone Companies and subsequently introduced the system of using numbers instead of... names to complete a call. Chauncey Langdon Knapp was a prominent figure in Lowell beginning in 1843 and continued to be an impactful person in history throughout his life. From his involvement in Congress as a Clerk and Congressman through his editorial duties for the Middlesex Standard and Lowell Citizen and News, his presence was strong and purposeful So much so that Knapp Avenue leading from Rogers Street into the Lowell Cemetery is named for him.
