#TBT to the A Space for Dialogue installation Los Mojados: Migrant Bodies and Latinx Identities, curated by Armando Pulido ’19. On view in May and June 2019, the installation highlighted prints and photographs from the Hood Museum’s collection that speak to the complexities of US-Latinx experiences. As Armando writes in the exhibition brochure, the reclamation of the derogatory slur los mojados (used to describe undocumented Mexican migrants who enter the United States th...rough the Rio Grande) in the title is meant to give power to the immigrant narratives that are often pushed to the margins of society. Ranging from movements around migrant labor rights in the 1960s to the current Central American refugee crisis, the works addressed an array of cross-cultural issues through an exploration of the body and accessible media. Read more about Armando’s exhibition here: https://bit.ly/3drS1ao Curated by Hood senior interns, A Space for Dialogue installations showcase student perspectives on the museum’s permanent collection to engage in critical conversations and expand the curatorial voices at the museum. #HoodMuseum #Dartmouth #ArtsatDartmouth #LatinxHeritageMonth
