Celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day today with this beautiful jar by Hopi-Tewa potter Fannie Nampeyo. Born in 1900 on the Hopi Reservation in northeastern Arizona, she was the youngest daughter of Nampeyo of Hano, the grand matriarch of modern Hopi pottery. Fannie Nampeyo followed in her mother's footsteps and was a prolific potter. This jar bears a bird migration pattern, a common motif in Nampeyo's work.
