In the far southwest corner of our state is the humble St. John Church in Wauneta. From the very beginning the Catholic Extension was a faithful supporter of the parish by providing funds for building projects. The current church was dedicated in 1960 and features a grotto of Our Lady of Fatima constructed by Fr. Zygmund Rydz

Does anyone know which Nebraska Catholic parish this is? They are in a scrapbook next to other Nebraska Catholic parishes that include Seneca, Harrison, Elyria, Burwell, Elba, and Paplin. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

On the eve of THANKSGIVING, we wanted to thank those who have opened up their respective church buildings, homes, libraries, scrapbooks, and family albums with us during our journeys across Nebraska. For those of you online, thank you for following us on our facebook page and providing us with direction and feedback. May God Bless you on your journeys. Ron and Chase

It is on the prairie that I feel most at home. Native grass forms the carpet and the trees become gothic arches stretching upwards towards Heaven. Nature and her land make up my church. How fortunate we are the have the Saint Benedict Retreat Center and Christ the King Priory in Schuyler, Nebraska. I have often found myself here, while in silence. As I walk upon the land, step by step, and take part in the Stations of the Cross, my heart opens more fully to those in this world who need me. Who may not have anyone else to pray for them. To those people whom I may never meet or even know. This, to me, is THANKSGIVING. Ron W. Sack

What a journey 2020 has been for all of us. This is Thanksgiving week. A time for all of us to be grateful for what we have been given. My faith, family, and friends are my bedrock. My Catholic education at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic School in Saint Paul, Nebraska changed my life. It was there that the Benedictine sisters, lay teachers, and priests elevated our education and impacted a generation of children. My sister, brothers, and myself were some of the many beneficiaries... of this VISION provided by the parish of Ss Peter and Paul. A place I will always call home. The school closed in 1986, but is alive in many of us. In 2017, I donated an exhibit that I designed and researched documenting the growth and impact the school had on so many of us. The main panel was titled

The main panel was titled "How Ss Peter and Paul School Shaped a Generation of Children." I would go on to write, "It was a time when the parishioners put the children on their shoulders and held us up high. We could see the future. We could see forever." Thank you, Ss Peter and Paul Parishioners...it was your vision and guidance that changed my life. This, to me, is THANKSGIVING. Ron W. Sack See more
